When one thinks of the One Lap of America race, it’s likely that sports cars, sedans, and the occasional truck comes to mind. The last thing many people would expect is a minivan. The Toyota Sienna is out to break that vision by taking on the ultimate road trip to prove, once and for all, that it’s the ultimate trip-ready vehicle.
The race lasts a total of eight days and two Toyota Sienna concepts will make the run, keeping pace with the rest of the pack. With the perfect amount of comfort, utility, and versatility, there’s little doubt the Siennas will cross the finish in good time.
“What could be a better test of our amazing Sienna minivan than putting it through the rigors of one of the ultimate endurance races,” said Andrew Lund, the Sienna’s chief engineer. “It’s really the best of both worlds to drive on public roads and then compete on so many unique courses.”
Top Gear host Rutledge Wood and Grand-Am Rolex GT Champion Craig Stanton will be the primary drivers behind the wheel of the Siennas. The Siennas won’t be the only badged Toyotas.
The Toyota Engineering Motorsports team modified a TRD FR-S (soon to be the Toyota 86) and Avalon. Six engineers will hit the road in the cars to further the “One Toyota” motto.
The One Lap of America race covers a dozen states, 3,000 miles, and includes a ton of fun!
We here at Bill Walsh Toyota are proud to see the Sienna proving that it truly is the road-trip-ready vehicle!
