A Redesigned Classic: 2019 Corolla Hatchback Gets New Look, Fresh Features

First displayed at the 2018 New York Auto Show, the 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback is set to return with a bold new design and some intelligent upgrades. This five-door design has a European-inspired look and sloping contours, and it’s also compact enough to make city driving a breeze.

The 2019 Corolla Hatchback will come with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine in place of last year’s 1.8-liter engine. The latest engine will have more horsepower and torque than the previous model year, according to Motor Trend, though the brand hasn’t released official specs yet. Most excitingly, this new power plant beats out most competitors, like the 2019 Lexus UX. The new Corolla Hatchback will also offer new transmission options, including a Dynamic-Shift continuously variable system.

Motor Trend’s Collin Woodard writes, “The 2019 Corolla Hatchback is built using the same Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) that underpins its European counterpart. Toyota promises that when paired with a sport-tuned suspension, the lighter, stiffer TNGA platform makes the Corolla Hatchback more fun to drive. It’s also lower, wider, and longer than the Corolla iM it replaces.”

Some of the 2019 Corolla Hatchback’s most notable changes will be design-related. The exterior will have a thinner grille, a longer hood, and fog lighting.

At Bill Walsh Toyota, we’re looking forward to getting an up-close look at the 2019 Corolla Hatchback — and we’re excited to introduce it to our customers, too.
