The Toyota RAV4 has been due for a makeover. It last got a next-gen upgrade in 2013, and since then, the compact crossover segment has only gotten more popular and competitive. Its top rival, the Honda CR-V, got a remake in 2017. That means the timing was just right for the all-new 2019 Toyota RAV4’s debut at this year’s New York International Auto Show.
The 2019 RAV4 sports a chiseled, athletic new look atop a platform that increases rigidity by 57 percent and provides even more room inside. The RAV4’s new powertrain options include a 2.5-liter Dynamic Force four-cylinder engine mated to an eight-speed automatic or a second-generation hybrid system with a continuously variable transmission. Higher trims will include Toyota-first Dynamic Torque All-Wheel Drive systems. The 2019 RAV4 will also come with a new Entune 3.0 multimedia system with Verizon Wi-Fi, Amazon Alexa, and Apple CarPlay™ integration.
The RAV4 had its best-ever sales year in 2017, with 400,000 units sold in the U.S. alone, and the 2019 model’s makeover should make this vehicle even more popular. Here at Bill Walsh Toyota, we’re excited to welcome the 2019 RAV4. Gas models will arrive at dealerships by late 2018, and hybrids will follow in early 2019.
